I have always loved going to school, and knew at age five that I wanted to be an educator. Endless days of playing school at home led me to where I am today. I received a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Mary Baldwin College in 2005, which led to my first teaching position in Augusta County, Virginia. I taught five years in fifth grade and three years in third before becoming a gifted resource teacher with Lynchburg City Schools. During my time as a gifted resource teacher, I earned my gifted certification from the University of Virginia. In 2016, I became the Coordinator of Gifted and Elementary Mathematics which allowed me to work closely with teachers, coaches, and administrators from kindergarten through twelfth grade. In 2018, I was hired as the Supervisor of Elementary Math, Science, and Gifted in Lynchburg City Schools. I pursued my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Lynchburg, which I completed in 2020. Always a student, I completed my Doctor of Education degree from Liberty University in October of 2022. I have been afforded many opportunities to support educators through mentoring, coaching, and leadership development, and I look forward to using that experience as I continue my journey as Principal at TJES.
I am originally from Gretna, Virginia, but lived in Staunton and Farmville before returning closer to home. My husband, Dave, and I live in Lynchburg where we raise two spoiled dogs, Lilly and Sadie. My step-daughter, a proud Jefferson Forest graduate, graduated from Christopher Newport University, and currently attends graduate school at Nova Southeastern in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
