I have always had a love for children so it is no surprise I chose education as my major in college. I earned a Master’s in Teaching at the University of Virginia in 1993. I returned to my Alma Mater, Jefferson Forest High School, and taught 8th-grade Language Arts for ten years while coaching softball, track, and basketball. I took a break while staying home with my young sons, Jackson and Aidan before returning to teach 4th and 5th grade reading to students at Forest Elementary School. I then transferred to Forest Middle School where I was a 7th-grade reading teacher. I realized the positive impact I had on students within my classroom and wanted to have a broader impact on the school climate as a whole. I pursued my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Lynchburg in 2014. I served as Dean of Students at Forest Middle School prior to coming to Thomas Jefferson Elementary as Assistant Principal.
In my free time, I enjoy visiting my kids in college, spending time with my pets, and exercising.
